The main theme of this eLearning module is the exposition of statistical methodology for the design and analysis of multi-factor experiments in the context of chemistry research. Throughout, user interactivity is provided via links to the R statistical software package, so that the user can design experiments for themselves, generate data from realistic simulations and follow the data through a statistical analysis. Guidance is given on many practical aspects of running a designed experiment.

This module was developed as part of the Combechem project, supported by funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council by researchers from the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute and the School of Mathematics at the University of Southampton . It has also benefitted from funding from the Higher Education Academy Maths, Stats and OR Network.
